Golden glasses

Fashion week Paris

In January, during the Paris Haute Couture Week, there was the jubilee spring/summer show 2015 of the Dutch couturier Christian Lagerwaard. The models wore matching haute couture glasses made by Frans Veurink, master goldsmith and designer of Vue d’Or.

This exclusive show was created partly at the invitation of the Dutch Embassy in Paris and took place in Atelier Néerlandais, the former Institut Néerlandais”.

For the first time Christian Lagerwaard had enriched the collection with a number of exclusive haute couture glasses, of 18 carat gold and fitted with precious stones.

This was the opportunity for these two creatives to get creative. On the basis of the sketches, designs and fabrics with the fashion image that Christan Lagerwaard expects, the glasses were designed and made. At the show the colors and materials of the fabrics, frames and glasses were perfectly matched.

The five frames full of precious stones and beautifully contrasting colored degraded glass will be the inspiration for new color combinations, working with applications on frames and playing with symmetry and a-symmetry”.

The reactions to the haute couture show in Paris were very positive. And not without consequence for the Dutch viewpoint. Frans Veurink was offered work space by the Dutch embassy in Atelier Néerlandais, has since received a number of assignments for reputable businesses on the Champs-Elysées and his models have been shown on Arabic Fashion Television, which has been watched by millions of people.
